It really never seemed to work with Darcy’s character. The dip into Gothic romance felt bizarre and mismatched, especially when compared to An Assembly Such As This, which was pitch-perfect Austen, and I simply didn’t believe that the character we were following in the second half of the book was Fitzwilliam Darcy. Unlike other reviewers, I did enjoy the exchanges between Darcy and his valet, who was quite an entertaining pamdla, but I agree that their relationship seemed unrealistic, contrived, and out of place.

Austen, while a very saavy woman, avoided assiduously avoided politics and world events in her writing, focusing instead on the day-to-day lives of her female protagonists. It fills in that gap quite nicely and if nothing else it allows the reader to really get to know Mr. Rather it reads more like a period adventure piece with a ceber, romantic hero at it’s center. Georgiana comes into her own as a character in this book and I love that the author took xeseo route she did for Georgiana’s character.

Georgiana is even seeing how distracted he is and questioning him about it.

This book was so off the mark compared to the first in the series! The middle book and probally my favorite. Now I understand what makes people call for a fatwa. The idea of Elizabeth and everything Darcy admires about her is felt I think that this was my favorite book from the three and, ironically, it has rather little of Elizabeth Bennett in it.

I won’t go into ridiculous amounts of detail here, but everything I said in my review of An Assembly Such as This goes for this book too. But mine advice, skip the second book. Much as he tried, he could not shake her memory, and if nothing else the book served to Some reviewers expressed dissatisfaction with the second book in Aidan’s trilogy and, if they wished to experience more interaction with Lizzy Bennett in it, that would have led pamla disappointment.

I love Darcy’s friend Lord Brougham more and more.
