Vurt by Jeff Noon
The story is told through the eyes of Scribble, a member of a gang of Vurt junkies known as the Stash Riders. Even though it’s central to the story, we no little nooh her other than that she’s the main character’s sister, and she’s hot. Vurt tells the story of Scribble and his “gang”, the Stash Riders, as they search for his missing sister Desdemona. It seems like everyone just takes drugs, mostly legal to escape this bleak reality.
I never bonded with or really cared about any of them and that makes it tough to love the book.

Central to the story and world of Vurt are the feathers. Then the reader is immediately immersed in a futuristic Manchester.
It makes for great reading that is surprisingly understandable, as soon as you “got” that the feathers are the drug, and that what happens in the Vurt can be carried over to our reality like Freddy Krueger’s hat in Nightmare on Elm Street, or an vurtt reality in Flow My Tears, the Policeman Said you know the basics, the story itself is relatively straightforward that sometimes meanders too much for its own good Perhaps – and I think this may be it – they are just shit.

We are in a science fiction with fantasy elements, and even a bit of meta-fiction. I don’t leave books unfinished very often, but I just couldn’t bring myself to keep reading Vurt.
Fans of sci-fi, post cyberpunk. As the plot progresses and secondary characters are risking their lives, helping, or loving the main character, there is no expiation as to why the go out of the way to help him.
